Viewing Angle Selection Guide

Angle Primary Application
Initial nasal cavity survey, septum and sphenoid assessment, direct anterior visualization
15° Near-forward examination with slight lateral offset; useful in transitional anatomy
30° Standard FESS operative angle - covers uncinectomy, maxillary antrostomy, and ethmoidectomy
45° Lateral nasal wall and accessory sinus access beyond the reach of 30°
70° Frontal sinus visualization, posterior maxillary inspection, concealed anatomical recesses

Clinical Applications

  • Routine nasal cavity examination and assessment
  • Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS / ESS) - standard cases
  • Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) evaluation and treatment support
  • Nasal polyp identification and removal procedures
  • Mucosal inflammation assessment and bleeding source localization
  • Pediatric ENT examination using 2.9mm configuration
  • Postoperative nasal cavity inspection and secretion clearance
  • Nasal foreign body localization assistance

Key Features

  • Rod Lens Optical System for Reliable Visualization A rod lens design transmits clear, geometrically stable images from the distal tip to the eyepiece - providing adequate brightness and resolution for standard ENT diagnostic and operative procedures.
  • Autoclave-Compatible Construction Sealed stainless steel housing supports repeated high-temperature steam sterilization within the validated cycle range. Appropriate for facilities running moderate daily sterilization volumes.
  • Standard Camera System Compatibility Compatible with HD ENT camera platforms from Karl Storz, Olympus, and Stryker. Standard ACMI fiber optic light cable connection supported.
  • Electropolished Stainless Steel Body 316L stainless steel construction with electropolished finish supports chemical resistance, ease of surface cleaning, and mechanical durability under routine handling conditions.
  • Low-MOQ OEM Access Standard OEM branding available from a single unit per SKU - making the Value Series accessible for distributors building out initial inventory or testing new market segments without high volume commitment.
  • 2.9mm and 4mm Diameter Options Narrower 2.9mm shaft supports pediatric nasal anatomy and tighter passage access; 4mm provides the optical cross-section suited to standard adult ENT procedures.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between 75°, 95°, and 110° field angle options?

A: Field angle refers to the total optical coverage of the endoscope - the wider the field angle, the more anatomical area is visible in a single view. The 75° field angle is the standard configuration for most FESS procedures, providing focused, high-clarity imaging in a defined area. The 95° and 110° options offer progressively wider coverage, suited to surgeons who prefer more situational awareness during complex sinus anatomy navigation. All three field angles are available across the same viewing angle and diameter combinations.

Q: What is the difference between viewing angle and field angle?

A: Viewing angle (0°, 15°, 30°, 45°, 70°) refers to the direction the endoscope looks - the angle between the optical axis and the shaft axis. Field angle (75°, 95°, 110°) refers to how wide the cone of vision is in that direction. For example, a 30° / 75° scope looks at a 30° offset from the shaft axis and covers a 75° cone of view in that direction. Both parameters affect what the surgeon can see, but they are independent of each other.

Q: hich configuration is recommended for standard FESS?

A: The 4mm / 175mm / 30° / 75° configuration (model B7040B) is the most widely used in FESS globally and is the recommended starting SKU for most ENT programs. The 0° scope is typically included as a complement for initial nasal survey and sphenoid access. For frontal sinus procedures, the 70° scope is additionally required.

Q: What is the Storz / Olympus interface difference?

A: The interface difference is at the light post connector and eyepiece connection only - the optical system and insertion tube are identical. Select the interface that matches the camera system and light source already in use at your target facility. Both interface versions are available across 4mm configurations; please specify when ordering.

Q: Can you supply configurations not listed in the standard range?

A: Yes, within the bounds of our manufacturing capability. If you require a combination not covered in the standard 48 SKUs - such as a specific diameter and working length pairing not listed - contact us with your specification for a feasibility assessment and quotation.
