Description: Working Insert is terminology for STORZ & WOLF inflexible endoscopes (resectoscopes, hysteroscopes, transforaminal endoscopes, modular laparoscopic instruments). It is NOT the endoscope insertion portion. It is a pluggable surgical actuator equipped internally inside the outer sheath.
Function & Role: Replaceable internal core for modular inflexible endoscope systems. It matches internally inside the outer sheath. The proximal end connects to the handpiece, whilst the distal tip works in the surgical field for cutting, grasping, punching, and electrocoagulation. Full assembly consists of: Outer Sheath + Working Insert (Manipulator) + Handpiece. It is disassemblable for maintenance and allows interchangeable tips such as scissors, forceps, irrigation tips, and electrodes.
Compatibility: Perfectly compatible with 4×302 mm cystoscopes.

Proximal handpiece finger rings and triggers switch the surgeon's hand motion to the distal tip via internal pull rods and precision springs. Controls resection loop extension/retraction, scissors, and forceps opening/closing (advance-cut & retract-resect operation).
Supports a variety of tips: resection loops, ball electrodes, cutting blades, grasping forceps, and scissors. Swapping working inserts on the same outer sheath instantly alters surgical functions, making the modular layout extremely cost-effective.
For resectoscope and hysteroscope electrosurgical models, a built-in insulated pathway safely delivers high-frequency electrical energy to distal electrodes for tissue cutting and hemostasis, preventing stray current burns.
The long shaft slides linearly inside the protective outer sheath. While the outer sheath protects human tissue, the working insert rod maintains strict coaxial alignment under sheath constraint for stable, precise movement.
Outer sheath, endoscope, and working insert are fully separate components. As the part enduring the heaviest wear, the working insert can be individually inspected, repaired, or replaced without changing the full set-the cornerstone of repair business.
